SBN between cataloguing functions and bibliographic aspirations

The article seeks to highlight the potentialities and the limits of search of On line Public Access Catalog of National Library Service by retrieving the features of the Cutter’s catalog (search for author, title and subject) and comparing them with the conceptual model FRBR and RDA. Particular attention is focused on the descriptive functions of cataloging and on the indical functions of the bibliography, trying to delimit their tasks and limits.
