Tra comunicazione scientifica, scienze del documento e Scienza dell’informazione: Ranganathan e la documentazione negli anni ’50 e ’60 del Novecento

Gli anni del secondo dopoguerra rappresentano un momento di riflessione internazionale sul concetto di Documentazione, dovuta all’impulso tecnologico- scientifico e ai fenomeni informazionali in costante crescita. Già nel 1934 la discussione veniva delineata da Otlet, dando avvio a riflessioni destinate a convogliare gli interessi della biblioteconomia e della nascente scienza dell’informazione. Si propone un’analisi del processo di elaborazione del concetto di Documento e Documentazione di Ranganathan per comprendere come l’autore si posiziona, nel ricco dialogo che coinvolge voci eminenti nel campo della documentazione, da Otlet (1934), Briet (1951) fino ai teorici del neo-documentalismo, nel tentativo di storicizzare meglio il suo contributo allo sviluppo della Scienza dell’informazione.
